This lecture will present various perspectives on what pro-aging means today.
Dr. Madigan-Fleck will present several of the anatomical and physiological changes that occur to the face skin through age progression, the alterations in skin systems, and the onset of cellular senescence. Many internal and external factors are implicated as contributing to the alterations in facial morphology. These concepts have advanced in recent years to include many synergistic relationships that involve environmental, biological, and metabolic circumstances. Further air pollution, chemicals, irradiation, medications, nutrient deficiencies, immune function, and other considerations in conjunction with or in part, play a role in the aging of the skin, glycation, and cellular senescence. Additional discussion will involve prevention and nutritional support, as well as perspectives for non-invasive approaches for pro-aging management in esthetic care.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:- Identify the hallmarks and physiological progression of facial morphology
- Illustrate and Identify the key determinants of facial aging

- Explain the cellular and physiological process of collagen replication
- Explore pro-aging concepts in the esthetic setting
